Award Opportunities

Our Academy recognizes and awards you for excellence in scientific research with the following prizes each year:

Spencer Foundation Small Research Grants Program

The grants program is intended for research projects requiring more than $35,000 in grant support. Awards of up to $50,000 are made. Proposal deadlines fall periodically throughout the year. The principal investigator must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or a professional field and must be affiliated with a college, university, research facility, or cultural institution. The foundation supports research that promises to contribute new knowledge to the improvement of education, broadly conceived, in the U.S. and abroad. A variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches are favored, though emphasis is given by charter to the behavioral sciences. The foundation is interested as well in the related research areas of cultural knowledge, socialization, and the production and distribution of knowledge. Research may range from medium-sized studies that can be completed in a year by an individual researcher to more extensive collaborative studies that last several years. Grants are not made to maintain organizations or infrastructures of educational research.
