King’s College hosted the 93rd Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science from March 31-April 1. There were over 300 participants from 39 Pennsylvania colleges and universities. The conference included 172 submitted abstracts that were presented as posters or oral presentations. Poster sessions included research on aquatic and terrestrial ecology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, cell and molecular biology, models of human disease, and genomics. There were oral presentations on wide ranging topics such as animals and disease, DNA metabolism and cancer, neuroscience, animals and habitats, antimicrobials and bacteriophages, and human impacts on habitats. The keynote speaker was prominent paleontologist Dr. Peter Dodson from the University of Pennsylvania who gave an entertaining presentation on his adventures in discovering dinosaurs on four continents. The event was capped off by the awards ceremony where 24 students were awarded PAS Undergraduate Research Grants. At the ceremony, students with the top three oral and top three poster presentations received Spychala Awards.
